Aluminium roof lights

This was two projects carried out at the Storey institute in Lancaster, a building situated on Castle Hill, one of the oldest areas in the city.

Part of the building is leased by Luneside Studios, a group of Local independent artists.

Two sections of the original roof lights were cracked, leaking and damaged beyond repair, so both were replaced with structural aluminium glazing bars, custom sprayed to suit with clear toughened double glazed units.

As the building is Grade 2 listed, the work was carried out under the guidance of the Lancaster City Council Conservation Officer.

By collaborating with them, the head of Luneside Studios and other local craftsmen we produced a space that is now protected from the elements, gives fantastic light and maintains the integrity and historical value of one of Lancaster’s most treasured buildings.

The building itself and both projects can be seen on the drone video footage below.
